3/7 College Game Benefits Hospice



Morganton, NC –Western Piedmont Community College will host its annual “Hoops for Hospice” basketball fundraiser to support Burke Hospice & Palliative Care, on Thursday, March 7, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the gym at Heritage Middle School, 1951 Enon Road, Valdese.  Tickets are $2 each and can be purchased at the event and in Hildebrand Hall on the College campus at 1001 Burkemont Avenue. The public is invited to attend this family-friendly event and cheer for a favorite student, faculty or staff basketball team member.



The College’s 2012 inaugural fundraiser for Burke Hospice brought in more than $1,000 that supported Camp Dragonfly, a camp offered by Burke Hospice for children who had lost someone significant to death. The Camp provides a safe place for kids to express their feelings and move forward in their healing. All activities are age-appropriate and supervised by Hospice staff.

Western Piedmont Community College enrolls approximately 4,000 students annually in pursuit of college transfer degrees, two year associate degrees and diplomas.  Western Piedmont received recognition for Exceptional Institutional Performance based on standards established by the North Carolina General Assembly.
