Fall 2008 Schedule of Classes


EKG Monitor Technician : Class Dates are (Choose one) July 18 OR Aug 15
    Knowledge of cardiac terminology, structure, and function of the heart, anatomy and physiology of the heart.  Learn the basic understanding of the electrical conduction system and how it affects the heart function.  Understand the cardiac cycle, demonstrate equipment operation, and could be prepared to be employed as an EKG monitor technician.

  • Class meets from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Class location is HS 263

  • Cost for this class is $55

Basic EKG Interpretation: Class Dates are August 23 and 30

  • Class meets from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Class location is HS 263

  • Cost for this class is $60.00

Medication Aide Requirements:  Class dates are Oct. 7 - 23, 2008.

  • Class meets Tuesday/Thursday from 5:30 - 10:00 pm. Class location is CE 210

  • Listing as Nurse Aide I by the Division of Health Service Regulation

  • Copy of High School Diploma or GED

  • Copy of driver’s license and social security card with matching names

  • Cost for this class is $80.00.

Nurse Aide I Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • COPY of valid driver’s license and Social Security card with matching names

  • COPY of high school diploma or GED.

  • CPR prior to the start of class.  Must be through the American Heart Association.

  • Completion of TABE test with a 9th grade score on reading and math.

  • Cost for this class is $120.00

  • Cost for this class is $120.00

  • Copy of valid driver's license and Social Security card with matching names.

  • Copy of High school diploma or GED.

  • Only the first 30 on the list will be admitted to the course.


Since January 2006, all Nursing Assistant I and Nursing Assistant II courses have been administered by the WPCC Division of Health Sciences. Changes were made to the entrance requirements for Nursing Assistant.

Changes to the Nursing Assistant Entrance Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Ninth grade reading level score on the TABE test.

  • Current and valid certification in basic cardiac life support (CPR).

In addition to the above changes, all JCAHO accredited Clinical agencies now require a criminal background check for all Allied Health students prior to beginning the Clinical practicum.  The cost of the criminal background check is the student's responsibility.  Additional information regarding the criminal background check process is explained at the start of each nursing assistant course.
